Wood Pellet Stove Venting:

There are many different options for venting your wood pellet stove.  For full information please visit our showroom so our knowledgeable staff can help you determine what will best fit your needs.  Not all installations will be exactly as shown, but these represent the most common of installations.  If you are uncertain of local codes, or have any reservations about venting installation it is best to leave it to a hearth professional.  The Stove Keepers offers venting installation for all stoves purchased through our showroom.

bullet  First Permits:   Contact your local building code or fire officials regarding permits, restrictions, and installation inspection in your area.

Direct Vent:

TRUE Direct Vent is offered only by Harman Stove Company.  This means that the stove uses 100% outside air for combustion.  This reduces clearances from windows and doors to only 18".  Hooking up the intake air pipe also keeps any smoke from entering your home during a power outage.

This method provides excellent venting for normal operation. This method also provides natural draft in the event of a power failure.  The damper area must be sealed with a steel plate or fiberglass. A cap should be installed on the chimney to keep out rain. If the chimney condition is questionable, or if local codes specify you may want/need to install a liner all the way to the top.

Work with your salesperson to determine what size width pellet vent you will require.

Always read your stoves owners manual for specifics about clearances to combustibles, and other recommendations for installation.  Check your local ordinances to be certain you are maintaining proper distance from windows, doors, and other air openings in your wall.

Do not connect B-vent pipe(gas) with aluminum liners, dryer vent, or other non-approved venting to your pellet vent appliance.   Also never install single-wall pipe to a pellet stove.
